Alison Stickley is thrilled to co-direct the Dolce Choir alongside her longtime friend and colleague, Luke Pettygrove. Alison developed a deep appreciation for choir early in her childhood, inspiring her to share that same passion with others through teaching. She is now happily teaching music full time to students grades 1-6 in Rowland USD. Alison studied music education with Bruce Rogers at Mt. SAC and sang in the world-renowned Chamber Singers -- serving as Student Director and Section Leader -- and in the vocal jazz ensembles Frontline and Singcopation. At CSU Fullerton, she received her BA in music education and her teaching credential in music, where she sang in choirs with Dr. Robert Istad and Dr. Christopher Peterson. Alison enjoys bringing exceptional choral music to her hometown community of La Verne, CA with the Profectus Chamber Choir, where she assistant-directs and serves on the executive board. She also is a staff singer with Pacific Chorale, the premier choral ensemble in Orange County. Throughout her education, Alison has won many scholarly and musical awards, most recently winning Mu Phi Epsilon's International Sterling Achievement Award, which is the highest honor bestowed on a collegiate member of the professional music fraternity. When she's not singing or teaching, Alison enjoys rock climbing, sewing her own clothes, listening to podcasts, and petting her cats.
Luke Pettygrove was born and raised in Southern California. Luke attended Mt. San Antonio College and during his three years there he sang with the Chamber Singers, Singcopation Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and Fermata Nowhere. He then transferred to California State University, Fullerton where he completed his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education with an Emphasis in Choral Conducting. Mr. Pettygrove is currently an Elementary General Music teacher and Band Director in the Chino Valley Unified School District. Mr. Pettygrove has been working with children for the past 10 years as a nanny, camp counselor, sports coach, and as the administrative director at a Summer/Winter Camp. He is passionate about giving every child the opportunity to experience the power that music can bring to their lives.
Mrs. Dalyn Shutts is an elementary music teacher in Rancho Cucamonga, teaching music classes and choir to students in grades 1-5. She got her Bachelor of Music degree from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach, her single-subject teaching credential in music from California State University, Fullerton and is currently attending Boston University Online to receive her Master of Music in Music Education. She has sung with award-winning choirs including the Mt. SAC Chamber Singers and the Bob Cole Conservatory Chamber Singers. She is currently the Musical and Artistic director of Profectus Chamber Choir, a professional choir in La Verne. Her love of choral music began in middle school and she has been singing or working with choirs ever since. She lives with her son and daughter in Upland, CA.
Mrs. Jennifer Escovar is in her thirteenth season as choral music director at Bishop Amat Memorial High School where she directs the Chamber Singers, Men’s Choir, Women’s Choir, Junior Lancer Choir, and the EnsemBELLs (Handbell Choir). Under her leadership, the Bishop Amat choirs have received numerous awards and honors and have performed in some of the most prestigious venues across the United States and abroad, including Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral in Los Angeles, Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, Carnegie Hall in New York City, and St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Over the years, Mrs. Escovar’s students have been selected for the Southern California Vocal Association (SCVA), California All-State, American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Western Division and ACDA National Honor Choirs. In addition to her role as choral director at Bishop Amat, Mrs. Escovar had been the music director for nine musicals including, Godspell, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, to name a few. Mrs. Escovar holds a B.M. in Choral/Vocal Music Education and Vocal Performance from CSU, Long Beach as well as an M.A. in Education from Azusa Pacific University.
Professor Bruce Rogers is the Director of Choral Activities at Mt. San Antonio College. In this role, he oversees the department’s various vocal and choral programs, which span the entire spectrum of music – from classical to jazz. He personally directs Mt. San Antonio College’s award-winning Chamber Singers and the elite vocal jazz ensemble, Singcopation.
Choirs under his direction have achieved top ranking in national and international competitions throughout the world, including performances in Concert Halls throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, China, Scotland, Wales, England, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Austria, Switzerland, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, South Africa, Slovenia, Slovakia and China. Mr. Rogers' choirs have had the honor of performing at eight California State Conventions, twelve American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Regional and National Conventions as well as performing at three International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE) National Conventions and a 2017 performance at the Jazz Education Network (JEN) Conference.
Mr. Rogers’ guest conducting ventures outside of the United States, include conducting at the “AMIS International Honor Band and Choral Festival” hosted by the International School at The Hague in the Netherlands, conducting at the “ACCET Choral Conductor’s Workshop” held in Melbourne, Australia, guest conducting the music of Franz Joseph Haydn in Vienna and Budapest with a Festival Choir and Orchestra honoring the 200th Anniversary of Haydn’s death, and was the headline clinician and guest conductor at the "Australian National Choral Association" (ANCA) Convention in Port Macquarie, Australia. He has guest conducted the New York Chamber Orchestra and Festival Chorus at Carnegie Hall on seven different occasions and has performed by special invitation at Lincoln Center. In 2007, Professor Rogers conducted the ACDA National Two-Year College Honor Choir at the ACDA National Convention in Miami, Florida and he has served as the American Judge on the jury panel for the “International Musical Eisteddfod Competition” in Llangollen, Wales on five different occasions. Mr. Rogers has presented lectures, adjudicated, or conducted All-State and Collegiate Honor Choirs in twenty-seven states, Canada, Austria, Hungary, Poland, Australia, and the Netherlands.
For his many achievements, Mt. SAC presented Professor Rogers with its prestigious “Faculty Member of the Year” award, the Upland Community Foundation honored him as a recipient of their 2010 "Spotlight Award" for Outstanding Educator, in 2013 he was awarded the "CMEA Pearson-Silver Burdett Choral Educator Award" honoring excellence in choral education and performance, and in 2014 he received the California Music Educators Association’s “Outstanding Music Educator’s Award”. He has also signed with Gentry Music to publish the “Bruce Rogers Choral Series”, which strives to discover challenging new choral works from throughout the world.
